The work-in-progress of the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, designed by architect Renzo Piano, is scheduled for opening in 2019. In “Architecture + Cinema + Hollywood”, the three are connected through images of the museum’s construction at the present time, historic and contemporary examples of architecture, mementos from classic movies, metaphors of Hollywood, and segments from my previous films.
Why is it that libraries remain an important subject today? Public libraries are a symbol of a democratic access to knowledge. The Los Angeles Central Library is a stimulant destination for learning.
Michael Heizer “Levitated Mass” and Bruce Goff’s Pavilion for Japanese Art. Two works, placed a couple of hundred yards one from another, could not be more different. The “rock” is a late-bloomer of the Land Art movement. The pavilion can be traced back to Frank Lloyd Wight’s principles of Organic Architecture. reinterpreted by Bruce Goff.
